Barn Door Dining Table

IMG_20130918_140228_510

This stunning dining table was crafted from a barn door salvaged in Penobscot County, Maine.  The legs are old commercial grade table legs found at a salvage shop in the same area.  This is a very heavy duty and sturdy table.  The original hardware (hinges, handle and latch) were retained to keep the authenticity and ad some flair.  The hinges were countersunk on the top and coated in epoxy to preserve and protect.   The top of the table/barn door was meticulously hand milled in a manner to give a refined yet rustic finish.  Some areas you will find years and years of paint.  I can find 5 colors, not including the bottom of the door which was left with a more original rough look.  I then coated with a walnut stain and polyurethane to give a smooth refined look for any dining room or kitchen.
